These little mixed media gems honor family and friends who've fought the courageous fight.
Certainly not intended to be portraits, the “blind contour drawing method” resulted in interesting lines and shapes that culminated in faces, each with their own story. The results are ‘wonky’ with many an imperfection, and to me, that's life. When we embrace the imperfections and adjust our perspective, unique beauty and joy comes to the surface.
Look closely --- Each piece has symbolic text or graphical elements, and the limited palette includes the color of the support ribbon for the subject's type of cancer. The simple one word titles reflect the personal lesson I learned through the subject's journey with cancer.
